A delayed reaction to oxaliplatin.

چکیده
A 64-year-old man who was receiving chemotherapy for gastric cancer with liver metastases was referred to our department for an allergy workup after experiencing a skin reaction. The chemotherapy regimen comprised taxotere, oxaliplatin, and 5uorouracil (5-FU) (combined with calcium folinate) followed by abundant intravenous hydration. Each cycle was administered in combination with a standard preparation containing ondansetron and methylprednisolone succinate. The patient experienced no problems during the rst 6 cycles of treatment. However, approximately 8 hours after the beginning of the seventh cycle, he developed a pruritic polymorphous maculopapular rash, mainly on the upper and lower limbs. No associated systemic manifestations were observed. Antihistamines and corticosteroids were administered immediately, and the rash resolved within 72 hours. The same reaction occurred 2 weeks after this episode, while the patient was receiving his eighth cycle of chemotherapy.

Hypersensitivity reactions to oxaliplatin: clinical features and risk factors in Koreans.
BACKGROUND AND AIM Oxaliplatin hypersensitivity is a well-known adverse reaction but the prevalence varies and data for frequency and clinical features have not been reported for Korea. Here we evaluates the prevalence and risk factors for hypersensitivity reactions to oxaliplatin after chemotherapy. METHODS Clinical information on all patients treated with oxaliplatin was retrospectively rev...
متن کاملLiposomal delivery and polyethylene glycol-liposomal oxaliplatin for the treatment of colorectal cancer (Review)
Oxaliplatin is effective for the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer; however, its application is restricted due to its dose-limiting toxicity. Liposomes are sphere-shaped vesicles consisting of one or more phospholipid bilayers. Liposomes as drug carriers are characterized by delayed release, lesion targeting and may be used as a drug-delivery system to decrease the side effects of cytotox...
متن کاملRechallenge with cisplatin in a patient with pancreatic cancer who developed a hypersensitivity reaction to oxaliplatin. Is skin test useful in this setting?
CONTEXT A recent meta-analysis suggests that the addition of oxaliplatin or cisplatin to gemcitabine can lead to improved survival in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer, especially those with a good performance status. In an event of a platinum hypersensitivity reaction, the particular platinum salt is likely discontinued. Desensitization has shown benefit anecdotically but it is an inten...
متن کاملIn-vitro and In-vivo Antileishmanial Activity of a Compound Derived of Platinum, Oxaliplatin, against Leishmania Major
This study aimed to evaluate the antileishmanial efficacy of oxaliplatin against Leishmania major both in-vitro and in-vivo. The IC50, CC50, and SI of oxaliplatin against promastigotes, murine macrophages, Raw 264.7 cells, and intramacrophage amastigotes of L. major were investigated in-vitro. The effects of this drug on intrace...
متن کاملGuadecitabine (SGI-110) priming sensitizes hepatocellular carcinoma cells to oxaliplatin.
Promoter DNA hypermethylation is an important biomarker of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), supporting the potential utility of demethylating agents in this disease. Guadecitabine (SGI-110) is a second-generation hypomethylating agent formulated as a dinucleotide of decitabine and deoxyguanosine that yields longer half-life and more extended decitabine exposure than decitabine IV infusion. Here ...
